I am an avid fisherman who guides and fishes in Lake of The Woods in Ontario Canada. This past June of 2016, I was fishing for walleye in the Sabaskong Bay area on the east end of Lake of the Woods. My Shimano Compre, medium, fast action, 6'6" rod with a Shimano 1500 Sahara FE spinning reel accidentally went over the side of my boat into about 30 feet of water. I thought it was lost forever.
When I got home, I went to my local Cabelas and purchased an indentical replacement.
A week ago I returned to fish Lake of the Woods over Memorial Day weekend. On Friday May 26, 2017, I was fishing in the general area of where I lost my rod and reel the year before and snagged onto something. I slowly brought my line in and discovered I had caught my Shimano rod and reel I lost the year before. It was covered in slime and looked pretty rough.
My brother, who was fishing with me at the time took a picture of me holding my recovered Shimano rod and reel.
That night at our cabin, I disassembled the Sahara reel and cleaned and lubricated it. I put new line on it and cleaned the Shimano Compre Rod. I was fishing with it the next day and limited out on walleyes.
I wanted to let you know what great fishing equipment you make. After a year in thrity feet of water, with a little elbow grease and some new line, this Shimano rod and reel was ready to get back in the action, performed like the day I purchased it, and caught a limit of real nice walleyes. This is a testament to the quality of Shimano fishing equipment.
I fish for Walleye, Northern Pike, and Muskie and will only use Shimano equipment."
